Pattern Magic 2 Tomoko Nakamichi

I contacted Tracy, the Material Girl after finding her review of the Morley College Pattern Magic course and she joined the challenge with an idea for a Disappearing Scarf Top (from Pattern Magic 2). The 1950s part of the dress was going to be the easy bit – the Pattern Magic bit, the challenge. I cut in calico the a basic fitted bodice and skirt, and then drew a curve along the waistline (and my curve is very modest). Pattern Magic Book 1 – The design shown in the book is certainly inspiring. The Pattern Magic books are a favourite of mine. Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), 11 dc in ring; sl st in 2nd ch of starting ch 2. I used 2 different silk taffetas. I joined the Patten Magic evening class at Morley College two weeks ago (they've got new class coming out for Autumn this year). I used the "flip turn for a draped effect" design from Pattern Magic 2. Which is why I hesitated about making it at first. Although it doesn't get a big picture in the book, it is probably one of its most popular designs. I made the top following the directions in the book Pattern Magic 1. Garden Snowflake 2 Instructions Make magic ring. One is a gold color plain weave, the other is a plaid jacquard weave, left over from this project.
